I thought everything would be easy peasy lemon squeezy but everything actually turned to be lemon lemon lemon difficult. What have I done wrong?

Don't take lemons, and do not, in any circumstances, make lemonade. Demand to see life's manager. Make it take the lemons back. Make it eat the fucking lemons. Burn its house down.

Poor prioritization, possibly? Depends on what expectations you had and what you actually got... lemons are not always so bad after all. Even with hard lemons it's possible to make juice sometimes :)
